Biography
Rhonda Roy is a Zentangle artist and Certified Zentangle Teacher (CZT) in Parksville, BC. Rhonda discovered Zentangle in 2015, and was instantly hooked. She became a CZT in April 2016 and has been teaching Zentangle classes and creating Zentangle Inspired Art (ZIA) since then. Zentangle is more about the mindfulness element to the process of drawing structured patterns. Traditional Zentangle work is non-representational, non-directional, and typically drawn with black ink on white paper. Zentangle Inspired Art (ZIA) takes this one step further into colour, different mediums, and sometimes, non-abstract forms. Rhonda’s ZIA work includes tangling on paper, canvas, ceramic, glass, wood, and fabric; practically anything that isn’t moving! She tangles on backgrounds of watercolour, oils, acrylics, alcohol ink and coloured inks, usually in abstract. Rhonda believes we are all born with a need and an ability to create, and that Zentangle is a great way to awaken that creative side in us all. Rhonda is Faculty Administrator for the MAC’s School for the Creative Arts and is one of the Artists in Residence at the MAC on Thursdays.
