Biography

When I moved to the Island in 2015 with my husband Andrew, we were both keen to get involved with the local Arts community. The MAC was our first stop and we found what we were looking for! I joined the board of the OCAC six years ago and currently share the role of Artist Relations and Support with fellow board member, Peter Humphries. One of our chief responsibilities is sourcing and inviting Vancouver Island artists to show their work at the Bayside Oceanfront Resort where a satellite gallery was estabished in 2021. I'm also on the MAC's Gallery Committee which receives and selects applications for the centre's three galleries. During the height of the pandemic when opening receptions were not possible, Andrew and I established the Artist's Backstory series of videos, which featured new exhibitions at the MAC and included an interview with each of the artists. Andrew continues to produce videos related to the world of art for the MAC's Cloakroom Gallery. Another creative passion of mine is making music. I play in an African drumming group and a marimba band which both have summer gigs to look forward to. Agility training with my Havanese, Lucy, and hiking local trails in Nanoose take up the rest of my waking hours - as the saying goes, retirement is a full time job!
