The world is adjusting to the new reality of living in the midst of a pandemic. This means changes in day-to-day life, including how we do the things we enjoy the most. Here are some ideas of how you can be involved in the Arts in Oceanside during these different times:
- Visit galleries when they’re open. While it may take a little bit of planning ahead, it’s well worth it. It’s important to get out of the house and see some wonderful art – it’s great for the soul as well as supporting artists and arts organizations. Check out the schedule for exhibitions and activities at the MAC in Parksville, the Old School House in Qualicum Beach, and other galleries in our area.
- Attend live music & theatre events – the locations may be a bit different, but there is music happening! Check out Sunday performances at the Parksville Museum, Ground Zero performances (at Knox United), and opportunities such as “Babel Rap” performed by the Echo Players on August 22 in Qualicum Beach.
- If you’re looking for a way to celebrate a big occasion in a socially distanced manner, consider hiring a local musician for an outdoor serenade, purchasing local art as a gift, or making a donation to an arts organization in honour of your occasion.
- If you’ve been a supporter/member of an arts organization in the past, please consider keeping your membership current (or even making a donation) if you’re able to do so. Even with reduced activities, arts organizations have ongoing expenses, and we want them to continue long into the future.
