Our little Gift Shop is a treasure trove of unique items created by talented BC artists. As our reputation grows more and more artists are approaching us to carry their work. It is exciting times.
I recently received more of Ron Acton’s wood carvings. His little gnomes are very popular so he brought in more. But he also brought in some truly unique pieces such as a Canadian Mountie, a British Bobby and an adorable crow admiring a pair of red shoes on its feet. Sitting beside the entrance to the Gift Shop is a stunning pair of Orca dorsal fins carved from Cedar, one large, one small.
Another recent addition to the Gift Shop is a line of stone carvings by Ian Howie who lives in Beaver Creek near Port Alberni. Until recently he was a resident artist at TOSH. I am thrilled to add some his smaller pieces created from marble collected on Vancouver Island and Quadra Island. His pieces include a polar bear, a cat, a bird, and an Orca dorsal fin. The size is perfect for a mantle or book case.
I am excited to add a new line of jewelry by Ladysmith artist Linda Campbell. She creates one of a kind mini canvases from her stunning acrylic pour paintings. Her collection includes large cuff bracelets, circle linked bracelets, wire-set bracelets and pendants in a variety of shapes and sizes. Her pieces are irresistible.
With the weather warming up it is time to remove some of our outerwear, like gloves. Show off those hands with a sterling silver wrap-around ring or spinner ring. You will find a good selection of these wonderful accessories in the Gift Shop.
As you enter the Gift Shop you can’t help but notice the extraordinary carving hanging at the end of the room. We are thrilled to display this piece by Douglas Fisher and Jeremy Humpherville, whose work can also be seen in Coastal Carvings Gallery in Coombs. It is for sale so if you are interested please contact the MAC for the price.
Lastly, we are very sorry to say that Mary Flores is leaving Vancouver Island to be closer to family. We wish her well and thank her for supporting our Gift Shop with her beautiful creations. We will continue selling her items until they are gone. Mary has decided to donate any sales directly to the MAC so we thank her for her generosity!
New items are constantly being added to the Gift Shop. Be sure to drop in to revel in all we have to offer.
See you soon,
